a car slammed into a restaurant, hitting two pedestrians near the intersection of 18th street and florida avenue. john gonzalez has the details. the police say this is a criminal case? >> that is correct, charges are pending on the female driver. this happened just before 9:00 in the busy section of d.c., adams morgan, the corner of 18th and florida avenue. the driver of the car behind us slammed into a well known ethiopian restaurant in adams morgan. fire officials say two female pedestrians were struck and transported with serious injuries. both are in their 20's. one of them is in very critical condition. the female driver at the scene was irate, detained with handcuffs, put in the police car. she was arrested and refused treatment at the scene. the car drove right through the

front of the business, shattering the store front bay window. the police are trying to figure out exactly what went wrong here. >> i cannot figure out how she did it. taking out the entire restaurant and two people. this is a busy intersection, but coming down where she was, there is no sense to it. >> still a big police scene, trying to figure out what happened, interviewing witnesses, trying to figure out if the woman was speeding or not. this entire area between 18th and florida is completely closed to vehicular traffic. we are also following breaking news from springfield. nine people have been transported to hospital after a multicar crash that happened at the intersection of commerce street and the lowest they'll

drive. -- and losdale drive. no word on the ages or conditions of the victims. an investigation and a new voting scandal days before the d.c. mayoral primary. >> a d.c. man is claiming he was offered a bribe, a bribe -- a job with the fenty campaign. >> sam ford first broke the story at 5:00 and he has details that every d.c. voter needs to see tonight. >> the 19-year-old man said that fenty had lawyers brought him and other young people to the board of elections and told them to vote for mayor fenty and it would get jobs with the fenty campaign at paying them $100 per day. today he called up and complained that they were duped. we confronted the kennedy campaign spokesman with the story -- the fenty campaign

spokesman with the story. >> there was a misunderstanding. >> since early voting began, the fenty campaign has brought the vans full of early voters to the board of elections. this 19-wuerl says he was duped. -- this 19-year-old said he was duped. he was among a group of young people in front of his building on north capitol last thursday when it is fenty van pulled up, promising jobs if they voted for the mayor. he says he registered, voted for mayor fenty, returned to the building, and never heard about the job. he produced the number he gave them and went into the headquarters. >> i was promised a job from the fourth through the 13th for my vote to mayor fenty. > not how we operate.

we never promised anything of any value to anybody for support of the mayor. >> williams is angry now and wants his vote back. >> now that i did not receive any money or job, i want my vote back. >> rudolph williams said that though there were candidates on the ballot for various offices, he only voted for fenty because he was the only candidate he knew anything about. a spokesperson for fenty that first challenged if williams had voted here. he looked at the online data base and williams was not listed. we asked the head of the board of elections to check it out and he said rudolf williams voted here at 2:29 p.m. last thursday. live from northwest washington, sam ford, abc 7 news. >> fenty's chief opponent is speaking out about this. the accusations do not sit well with d.c. council chair and may

or candidate vincent gray. on top of that, they leave a sour taste in the mouths of many voters. vincent gray had not heard the accusation that the fenty campaign promised at least one voter the job for their vote, but he said his opponent if he did it is plain wrong. >> it is morally reprehensible and illegal. it should be prosecuted. these allegations have to be taken seriously. >> not one voter we spoke with disagrees. >> it was like he was offering money to vote for him. it is bribery. >> is corruption, leads to favoritism. >> federal law prohibits candidates for paying someone to vote, either through cash or with jobs. even though mayor fenty vetoed a bill in august that would have enshrined that federal ball into d.c. law, -- federal law into

d.c. law, as long as a federal contact on the ballot as there is next tuesday, every kid on the ballot must abide by federal law. the d.c. board of elections would not comment on the specific allegation, but its general counsel said it has not heard anything, but it said if the allegations prove true, it would be illegal. a new they're released poll by clarice research shows gray leading fenty by 7% fitch points among likely voters. a 14% of voters are still undecided. the death toll has grown in texas and the aftermath of a tropical storm. the police say a second person has died from right to associate with the storm -- from rain associated with the storm. check out this dramatic video, from dallas.

silver spring after re bus erupted into flames. this is in front of the discovery channel building on the wayne avenue. firefighters extinguished the flames and nobody was injured. any increase in crime on campus at a virginia university has some students wanting to carry guns to defend themselves. several armed robberies have occurred recently on the campus of old dominion university. students are petitioning university officials to permit concealed handguns. all virginia university's ban or restrict weapons on school property. it colorado wildfires are burning out of control a second night and four people are missing. flames have destroyed at least 136 home so far. that makes this the most destructive wildfires in colorado history. officials say many of the missing residents did not evacuate, deciding to stay
